Why do some people remain sick for years, despite normal medical checkups, reassuring test results, and dozens of treatments they’ve tried?

Why do they always suffer from chronic fatigue, pain, digestive problems, brain fog, or persistent inflammation without anyone ever really finding the cause?

At Humankind Wellbeing, our approach is based on a simple idea: looking at the biological context rather than simply searching for a disease.

Dark-field microscopy is not a medical diagnostic tool. It allows for the observation of living organisms and helps identify certain imbalances in the body, which then guide nutritional and micronutritional management.

Based on this observation, we can look for various markers such as:

  • intestinal permeability;

  • imbalances in the microbiome;

  • significant oxidative stress;

  • low-grade inflammation;

  • as well as signs consistent with the presence of biofilms and silent chronic infections.

Cold-related infections: the often-overlooked chronic conditions

One of the most important factors we look for is the presence of what we call " cold infections."

Unlike an acute infection, they generally do not cause a high fever or dramatic symptoms. They can persist for years, sometimes decades, while constantly taxing the immune system.

It is these silent infections that often keep the body in a state of chronic alertness.

The body expends a considerable amount of energy to manage them, which may explain persistent fatigue, difficulty recovering, diffuse pain, and neurological, digestive, or hormonal disorders.

What Microscopy Can Reveal

Microscopic examination of the specimen may reveal clues pointing to several types of biological imbalances.

In particular, signs consistent with the following may be observed:

  • parasites;

  • yeasts and fungi;

  • certain bacteria, particularly Gram-negative bacteria, which are known to contribute to chronic inflammation originating in the gut;

  • as well as the presence of biofilms.

Biofilms are protective structures created by microorganisms. They allow the microorganisms to hide from the immune system and make it easier for them to resist treatment. As long as these biofilms persist, certain infections can become extremely difficult to treat.

When Conventional Analyses Are No Longer Enough

Many chronic infections sometimes go undetected during routine checkups.

Some may remain relatively inactive but continue to profoundly disrupt the body’s functioning. This is particularly true of certain viruses, such as EBV, CMV, and HPV; certain parasites, such as Toxoplasma gondii; as well as numerous co-infections frequently observed in chronic diseases, such as Babesia, Bartonella, Chlamydia pneumoniae, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and various intestinal parasites.

The goal is not to make a diagnosis based on microscopy, but to identify a biological condition consistent with a chronic infectious load that requires further investigation and an appropriate management strategy.

Why do these infections cause so many symptoms?

When these infections persist, they constantly contribute to:

  • stimulation of the immune system;

  • low-grade chronic inflammation;

  • significant oxidative stress;

  • malfunctioning of the mitochondria, our powerhouses.

  • A limbic system in a state of hypervigilance

  • Disrupted interstitial tissue

Gradually, the body becomes exhausted.

This loss of energy can manifest as chronic fatigue, cognitive impairment, food hypersensitivity, muscle pain, digestive problems, or an inability to regain a stable state of health despite numerous treatments.

An approach that seeks to identify the root causes

At Humankind Wellbeing, we don't just try to mask the symptoms.

Observations made under a microscope make it possible to tailor recommendations regarding diet, lifestyle, micronutrition, and—when appropriate—the use of herbs or other natural approaches suited to the individual’s constitution.

Our goal is to help the body gradually restore its immune balance, reduce chronic inflammation, and address the root causes that perpetuate chronic diseases, rather than simply treating their symptoms.

Because once we finally understand what has actually been wearing the body down for years, it becomes possible to implement a much more targeted and coherent treatment strategy.

 

Our philosophy: treating long-standing infections to help the immune system regain its balance

One of the cornerstones of our approach is the treatment of past infections—those often referred to as “memory immunity” or “IgG immunity” infections.

Unlike acute infections, which trigger an immediate immune response (IgM), these infections can persist for years. They remain under the body’s control, but in our clinical experience, they continue to activate the immune system on an ongoing basis.

We believe that as long as these silent infections remain present, the immune system can never return to fully balanced function.

That is why our goal is not merely to alleviate symptoms, but to gradually reduce this chronic viral load so that the immune system can naturally restore its balance.

In our practice, we very frequently observe that people with chronic diseases also exhibit abnormal lymphocyte profiles: imbalances in lymphocyte subpopulations, abnormalities in certain immune cells, or signs of immune exhaustion.

In our view, these abnormalities often reflect an immune system that has been working constantly, sometimes for several years or even several decades.

Our approach, therefore, is to identify the various factors that may be contributing to this chronic immune stimulation: parasites, yeasts, bacteria, biofilms, as well as past viral or bacterial infections that continue to tax the body’s defenses.

The goal is to gradually reduce this immune stress so that the body can finally devote its energy to repairing tissues, reducing chronic inflammation, and restoring its ability to self-regulate.

It is this vision that guides all of our therapeutic protocols: we do not simply seek to eliminate a symptom through micronutrition and functional biology (it is too easy to give zinc without knowing what is depleting it), but rather to help the immune system emerge from a state of constant alertness so that it can return to a more physiological state of functioning.
