Histamine intolerance (Part II)

We continue our article on histamine intolerance. Intolerance linked to a deficiency in the histamine-degrading enzyme known as DAO, or intolerance linked to a deficiency in HNMT. The latter is linked to methylation disorders in particular.

Before moving on to the laboratory tests, which I recommend include the fecal histamine and fecal DAO tests, I'll let you take a look at the questionnaire at the bottom of this article.

If you answer "YES" to at least two of the questions below, there's a good chance you have histamine intolerance.

  1. Do you suffer from migraine attacks or headaches at least twice a month?
  2. Do you sometimes suffer from transit problems (constipation, diarrhea) without knowing the cause?
  3. Do you regularly experience bloating, digestive pain or a heavy feeling after meals?
  4. Do you suffer from skin disorders (dry skin, redness, rashes,....) or have you ever been told you have atopic skin?
  5. Do you suffer from muscle and/or joint pain or contractures?
  6. Have you ever been suggested or diagnosed with fibromyalgia?
  7. Are you tired even after meals, despite having slept well?

If you answered "yes" to at least 2 questions, I invite you to try a DAO cure for a month. I've only just tried DAO and my alcohol breakdown is better, my skin is no longer dry and other symptoms improved after just 3 days!
