We continue our article on histamine intolerance. Intolerance linked to a deficiency in the histamine-degrading enzyme known as DAO, or intolerance linked to a deficiency in HNMT. The latter is linked to methylation disorders in particular.
Before moving on to the laboratory tests, which I recommend include the fecal histamine and fecal DAO tests, I'll let you take a look at the questionnaire at the bottom of this article.
If you answer "YES" to at least two of the questions below, there's a good chance you have histamine intolerance.
- Do you suffer from migraine attacks or headaches at least twice a month?
- Do you sometimes suffer from transit problems (constipation, diarrhea) without knowing the cause?
- Do you regularly experience bloating, digestive pain or a heavy feeling after meals?
- Do you suffer from skin disorders (dry skin, redness, rashes,....) or have you ever been told you have atopic skin?
- Do you suffer from muscle and/or joint pain or contractures?
- Have you ever been suggested or diagnosed with fibromyalgia?
- Are you tired even after meals, despite having slept well?
If you answered "yes" to at least 2 questions, I invite you to try a DAO cure for a month. I've only just tried DAO and my alcohol breakdown is better, my skin is no longer dry and other symptoms improved after just 3 days!
